Indie pop/soul band Fitz and the Tantrums has just been announced as the headliners for the second annual installment of Tachevah: A Palm Springs Block Party, on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. Tachevah is a free outdoor concert held in downtown Palm Springs during the week between the two Coachella music festival weekends. Last year’s inaugural Tachevah was headlined by Passion Pit and attracted a crowd of 6,500 plus attendees, and more than 10,000 people are anticipated this year.
Joining Fitz and the Tantrums is the Los Angeles-based electronic duo Classixx, as well as a number of other musical acts that are currently being selected through the Tachevah Showcase Concerts, held at the new Hard Rock Hotel in Palm Springs, which are judged by representatives from Goldenvoice, The Desert Sun and Grammy Award winner Shelby Lynne. The first showcase, held last week, was won by the Cathedral City band, CIVX. The next showcase, scheduled for Wednesday, March 26 at 7 p.m. at the Hard Rock Hotel, will feature five bands vying for a performance slot at Tachevah.
Tachevah is produced by P.S. Resorts, The Desert Sun/DesertSun.com, the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, the city of Palm Springs, Harold Matzner (philanthropist and owner of Spencer’s Restaurant) and Goldenvoice.
