Tips to know before you go:

*  Most of the good stuff will be gone within the first few hours of the sale, but you may be able to find a few hidden gems at the end of the sale when the organizers will be more likely to negotiate on price

*  Most Palm Springs area estate sales are cash only and likely will not hold an item for you while you run to the ATM, so make sure you have plenty of cash on hand

*  Be sure you have another person with you to help carry and load any large items you purchase since there typically is not anyone on hand to help with this

*  Bring a large enough vehicle for your purchases because you typically must remove the items during the sale hours and sometimes at the time of purchase (i.e., you can’t have items held while you go borrow a friend’s truck). Some sales may have a recommended delivery company that can deliver your large purchases for an additional fee paid directly to the delivery company

*  Have some boxes and wrapping materials on hand in the car in case you need to protect breakable items since these are generally not provided

*  The reputable estate sale companies will collect sales tax for your purchases (8% currently)

*  Some estate sale companies will not allow large purses and bags, so plan accordingly

*  All sales are final
