Following a six-week, head-to-head mixology competition, Selvarey Rum and the Saguaro Palm Springs are welcoming back six finalists to vie for the grand prize during the final round on Monday, Aug. 4. Competing bartenders include Greg Austin (Workshop Kitchen & Bar, representing Bootlegger Tiki), Richard Ables (Village Pub), Zane Tessay (Workshop Kitchen & Bar), Garrett Spicher (The Purple Room), Joe Kwiatkowski (The Purple Room), and opening night winner Anthony Bonelli (Hunters).

Cocktails will be judged on four factors: creativity, presentation, use of Selvarey’s premium Panamanian White or Cacao rums, and overall taste. The finale’s panel of judges includes General Manager of the property’s El Jefe and TINTO, JD Cole; Selvarey Rum Brand Ambassador Aidan Demarest; Los Angeles Magazine’s Caroline Pardilla; The Tasting Panel magazine’s Emily Coleman; “Out to Eat” Radio Host Cliff Young; and bartender Brian Butler from Roy Choi’s Los Angeles restaurants Sunny Spot and A-Frame.

In addition to being crowned the Saguaro-Selvarey King by the judges, the winner will receive a grand prize of $1,500 in cash, a spread in The Tasting Panel magazine, their winning cocktail featured at The Saguaro for the summer, and an exclusive announcement on local radio station Jammin’ 99.5 FM.
