I HEART PALM SPRINGS WITH KELLY LEE OF KELLY GOLIGHTLY
This week we are thrilled to speak with Kelly Lee, a style and entertaining expert and author of a fabulous blog called Kelly Golightly. Kelly and her husband have a gorgeous home in Palm Springs, so naturally we had to find out where this modern-day Audrey Hepburn likes to eat, drink, shop and play, and of course what she’s wearing!
Favorite restaurants in Palm Springs?
Kelly: I love having a leisurely (and late) brunch at Citron at the Viceroy as well as at the Purple Palm at the Colony Palms. The environments Kelly Wearstler and Martyn Lawrence Bullard created (respectively) are so dreamy. And for dinner nothing beats the enchiladas suizas at Las Casuelas. (I’m originally from Texas and it’s the best Tex-Mex I’ve had outside of Texas.)
Favorite shopping spots in Palm Springs?
Kelly: Where to start? The shopping is so fabulous in Palm Springs it should be criminal. I’m a vintage enthusiast and wrote a guide to my favorite vintage and thrift stores, but Revivals, Dazzles and Bon Vivant are at the top of my list. I also adore Trina Turk, Just Modern and Party Lab (I throw a lot of parties and they are my go-to for insanely fun party supplies).
Favorite activities in Palm Springs?
Kelly: Other than vintage shopping, I enjoy nothing more than swanning in our pool and hopping in the Jeep for desert adventures with Fred Baby (a.k.a. my hubby and photog extraordinaire). We love to frolic in the windmills and we love going to open houses in Palm Springs (amazing mid-century modern architecture + getting a peek at how other people live…all for free is too fun to pass up!). Speaking of, I’m really looking forward to Palm Springs Modernism Week — the house tours are my favorite part. (Ed. Note: check out Kelly’s guide to her favorite free things to do in Palm Springs!).
Favorite poolside cocktails?
Kelly: Our backyard, with Swannie Golightly, with a grapefruit margarita or boozy popsicle in hand. We planted lime, lemon and grapefruit trees when we moved in last October, and are excited to be able to use the fruits of our labor!
Your must-have items for Palm Springs?
Kelly: A huge sunhat is a must. I wear this one I picked up in the tiny town of Miguel Perera, Brazil literally every time I leave the house in Palm Springs. I only wish I had gotten more. Oversized sunglasses, a swimsuit, slip-on sandals and a caftan or tunic and you are set.
A big thank you to Kelly for letting us share her Palm Springs picks! Be sure to check out Kelly Golightly for great fashion, entertaining and décor inspiration and ideas, and you won’t want to miss Kelly’s awesome Instagram feed for even more eye candy!
