PALM SPRINGS FASHION WEEKEND
Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs is set to play host to the first-ever Palm Springs Fashion Weekend on Oct. 25 – 27, promising three days full of fashion shows and poolside parties. The 163-room Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs, which celebrated its grand opening just a few weeks ago, is an exciting addition to downtown Palm Springs and the perfect venue for a new roster of music and fashion events.
Envisioned by Palm Springs business leaders and locals Jim Casey, Kim Waltrip and Trini Garza of Troupe Productions, and produced by Mikey Koffman, owner/producer of LA Fashion Weekend/Fashion Splash, Palm Springs Fashion Weekend highlights include fashion shows, poolside parties and cocktail receptions, including a showcase of the designs of Los Angeles-based fashion designer Anthony Franco with a runway show and cocktail party on Saturday, Oct. 26. Franco, a Los Angeles native and a self-taught designer who has received accolades and awards for his music-inspired collections, was the recipient of the Mercedes Benz Designer of the Year Award for his 2007 men’s collection. “As a native of Los Angeles, I’ve always looked at Palm Springs as a haven for glamour and fashion, and I’m extremely excited to be showing my collection and helping to put the fashion spotlight on Palm Springs,” said Franco.
Palm Springs Fashion Weekend will also be about giving back to the community, and Troupe Productions will be making a $2,500 donation to the Desert AIDS Project. “We are so grateful that Jim, Kim, and Trini of Troupe Productions are making D.A.P. a beneficiary of Palm Springs Fashion Weekend,” said David Brinkman, CEO of Desert AIDS Project. “When you add talent like that to a venue like the new Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs, this is sure to be a hit!”
“Palm Springs Fashion Weekend will be the culmination of our dream,” explains Jim Casey, president of Troupe Productions. “Kim, Trini and I have always believed that Palm Springs has a rich history of glamour and fashion and the time has come to shine the light on our great city. We are excited to have secured Anthony Franco as our headline designer. His work, collections and Southern California upbringing made him the perfect choice for our inaugural event.”
