Sparrows Lodge in Palm Springs is a refreshingly unique new addition to the desert’s boutique hotel and wedding venue offerings. With its original roots as a motor lodge in the ’50s, the property was transformed over the past two years by Doug and Josie Smith, the duo behind the wildly successful Korakia Pensione. The Smiths sold Korakia in 2007, and when the boutique hotel development bug bit them again, they settled on creating a rustic-chic, 20-room property in south Palm Springs that evokes a “Japanese summer camp” aesthetic. The original barn structure was renovated to serve as the centerpiece of the property, housing the bar and a lounge area. Redwood abounds throughout the interiors and exteriors, and the concrete floors with hand-laid pebbles are a unique touch. Bathtubs are fashioned out of enameled horse troughs, and the rooms are devoid of televisions, spurring guests to seek entertainment at the saltwater pool, outdoor fire pit or the horseshoe pit. Weddings at Sparrows entail a buyout of the property for the weekend, making the property your own private summer camp for your friends and family. We recently teamed up with a talented group of wedding professionals to showcase some inspiration for weddings at Sparrows; check out Palm Springs wedding photographer Christine Arnold’s gorgeous images below!
