It’s that time of year when Hollywood heads to the desert for the Palm Springs International Film Festival, and this year a bastion of L.A. nightlife will join in on the fun. Giorgio’s, a weekly discotheque held on Saturday nights at The Standard in Hollywood, is heading to Palm Springs for one night only with a pop-up at Mr. Lyons on Thursday, Jan. 3 following the film fest’s gala.

Giorgio’s – named for famed Italian music producer Giorgio Moroder, oft-attributed as the founder of disco – was started by top nightlife promoter Bryan Rabin and Adam Bravin aka DJ Adam 12 (musician, producer and favorite DJ for clients including President Obama and other luminaries) about five years ago and quickly became a hot spot frequented by celebs seeking a fun night out without fear of photographic documentation (camera use is not allowed inside). Legends from the worlds of music, fashion and film have graced the Giorgio’s dance floor, including Mick Jagger, Beyoncé, Sting, Mary J. Blige, Bradley Cooper, Kylie Minogue, Zac Posen, Naomi Campbell, Denzel Washington, Dita Von Teese, Emma Stone and many, many more.

“Adam and I are thrilled to bring Giorgio’s to the desert,” said Rabin. “We have been looking for the right opportunity and Mr. Lyons is the perfect venue. Palm Springs has always been the playground for Hollywood. The architecture, glamour and beauty is so inspiring. Between the Palm Springs International Film Festival, our friends who live full or part time in the desert and all the loads of stylish people who call the desert their home we felt the timing was sublime. We are hoping that this will be the first of many and that Giorgio’s can become part of the booming desert nightlife. We look forward to meeting all the people who live to dress to the nines and get lost in music.”

Mr. Lyons, normally operating as a fine dining restaurant with an adjacent craft cocktail bar called Seymour’s, will be transformed into a disco club for the night, with an invite-only guest list culled from film fest honorees, industry heavy hitters and friends of the founders. Not on the list? Rabin says you can still try your luck at the door — just be sure to dress in your dancing queen best and pile on the charm.
