It’s heating up in the desert, and the Riviera Palm Springs is inviting you to beat the heat at their new Hot as Hell Thursdays Pool Party. You don’t need to be a guest at the hotel to partake in the festivities; just head on over to the Riviera’s Bikini Bar each Thursday night from from 7 – 10 pm to enjoy nighttime swimming, specialty cocktails, appetizers and live entertainment. Cabana rentals are available for a reduced fee, so bring your whole crew along to enjoy the poolside service.

Come hungry and enjoy some delicious appetizers and small plates from Executive Chef Jesse Souza, including chicken wings in a sweet and hot chile glaze with jalapeno ranch; crisp lettuce wraps with grilled chicken, vegetable slaw, cilantro and ponzu; lobster sliders with lemon, herbs and a crispy jalapeno chip; ribs in a sweet and hot sauce; and watermelon salad with feta, kalamata olives and mint.

The poolside entertainment is sponsored in part by Crater Lake Vodka by Bendistillery, creators of a unique sweet ginger-infused vodka that makes for a perfect twist on the traditional vodka martini. If you’re in the mood for a decadent tropical beverage, try the Cheeky Monkey, which combines aged rum, Cruzan coconut rum, passion fruit puree, creme de banana and fresh squeezed lime juice.

Each week’s party features live music and entertainment. Palm Springs Style checked out the party on July 4th, where the lovely Mercedes Moore and her band captivated the crowd with a sound that combines traditional blues with the soul and R & B of the 50s and 60s.

In keeping with the Hot as Hell theme, Fourth of July partiers were also treated to a poolside fire dancing performance.

Hot as Hell Thursdays are going on now through the end of October, and the Riviera plans to make it an annual event. Follow the Riviera’s Facebook page for updates on each week’s party, as well as other don’t-miss events.
