Trina Turk and Jonathan Skow (aka Mr Turk) will host a celebration at the Trina Turk / Mr Turk Palm Springs store on Saturday, October 14 from 4-6pm for the collaboration between internationally known and collected artist Jim Isermann, a Palm Springs resident, and Placewares, a design house and shop celebrating its 40th birthday next year and owned by Turk and Skow’s longtime friends (and former Palm Springs neighbors), Kevin Lane and Shev Rush.
Isermann has designed a custom installation for the windows of the Trina Turk and Mr Turk stores’ iconic 1962 Albert Frey-designed building, which will be revealed at the event and stay on display through Thanksgiving. Isermann will be signing the product collaborations, all of which will be on sale in the store. They include a nylon and duck canvas bag made in cooperation with Baggu; three ceramic mugs; three trays, a tray table, a stool, and a coaster set in laminated birch. Each is emblazoned with a mash-up of Jim and Placewares’ logos, designed by artist Pae White, who has also reimagined logos for MOCA and the Albright Knox.
“We look forward to celebrating the start of the season and the Jim Isermann @ Placewares Collaboration,” said Trina Turk. “It’s exciting to have an artist of Jim’s stature design an installation specifically for our residential boutique window. It will provide a burst of color on Palm Canyon Drive for visitors and residents alike.”
