Le Vallauris is a gem of a restaurant tucked just behind downtown Palm Springs in a historic property originally built as a private residence in 1927. Opened in 1974 by Paul Bruggemans, Le Vallauris just began its 40th anniversary season and is renowned for consistently superb French cuisine with Mediterranean and California influences offered in an intimate and romantic atmosphere. Le Vallauris has received numerous accolades including the highest Zagat rating in the Coachella Valley, as well as the AAA 4 Diamond Award.

Menu items are presented on a handwritten board, allowing for frequent changes to the menu based on the season and Chef Jean Paul Lair’s current inspiration. The restaurant’s outdoor patio is our favorite spot, with a canopy of ficus trees and beehive lights overhead that lend a magical ambiance. The patio can accommodate private parties, and there is also an additional adjacent outdoor space with a beautiful tree-lined gazebo that is perfect for weddings and special events.

Plans are currently being made for a special 40th anniversary celebration on January 7, 2014, so we will keep you posted on the details! In the meantime, we highly recommend heading to Le Vallauris for a special dinner or trying out their stellar Sunday brunch (we are still obsessing over the smoked salmon salad and mushroom omelette we enjoyed on our last brunch visit!).
